Margaret Rowley increased her vote by 3.1%, overtaking Labour and halting any swing in vote from the Liberal Democrats to Conservative.
Margaret said "I would like to thank all those who voted Liberal Democrat in Mid-Worcestershire in the General Election. It was pleasing to see a greater interest in politics than has been the case of late, and an increase in the turnout to 70.6%. Our vote rose by over 3% to 23.4% and the Liberal Democrats are clearly the main challengers to the Conservatives next time. This reflects the position in local government where there are no Labour councillors on Wychavon District Council or on Worcestershire County Council in the Mid-Worcestershire constituency.
Nationally we were again hampered by the unfair first past the post electoral system. Although gaining 23% of the vote overall we only gained 9% of the seats. The system must be changed."
