This investment averages out at over £330m a year - more than double the subsidy paid to the Post Office in the past two years under Labour who pushed through a programme of forced Post Office closures.
Cllr Margaret Rowley signs the Post Office Petition protesting against Labour's proposed cuts
Councillor Margaret Rowley, who campaigned to keep local Post Offices open when threatened by both Labour and Conservative Governments, said " Liberal Democrats understand the importance of local Post Offices to local communities, particularly in rural areas. This package will help improve customer services, extend opening hours and reduce queues. At long last, thanks to Liberal Democrat influence, we are seeing the Post Office put on a sound and sustainable footing."
