A by-election will be held on 25th November following the sad death of Cllr Ted Sheldon who had been a member of the County Council for many years.
Margaret Rowley has been chosen by the local Party as the Liberal Democrat candidate.
Margaret has been a tireless local councillor representing Bowbrook Ward (Tibberton, Hadzor, Oddingley, Crowle area) on Wychavon District Council for the last 15 years. She has been Leader of the Opposition since 1999, and has built up a reputation as a campaigner for local people. She was instrumental in getting the controlling Conservative Group to reverse their decision to close Droitwich Lido.
As Chairman of Droitwich Canals Trust she has steered the restoration project from a voluntary organisation seeking funding through to the current Restoration Partnership involving local Councils and British Waterways. The Canals are due to open next year and will be a great leisure resource for local people and create extra jobs.
Margaret has lived in Tibberton for the last 20 years and their three children were educated at Droitwich high School. She is a former parent governor of Westacre Middle School and has served as a Board Member of Spa Housing Association. She manages the staff library and knowledge services for the NHS in Worcestershire.
