Edward McMillan-Scott MEP
Edward McMillan-Scott MEP is due to speak at Mid-Worcestershire Liberal Democrats AGM on Friday, 19th November. The event will be held in the **John Corbett Room, Community Centre, Heritage Way, Droitwich Spa WR9 8RE**
Mr McMillan-Scott is an MEP for Yorkshire and the Humber. He has a family home in Mid-Worcestershire as well as his constituency home in Yorkshire. He is an elected Vice-President of the European Parliament and one of Britain's most senior MEPs. He is able to use his influence to pursue a number of campaigns with a European or worldwide scope. His portfolio includes democracy and human rights.
Following his dispute over the Conservative Party's controversial new group in the European Parliament he was expelled, appealed, but resigned and on 12 March 2010 and joined the Liberal Democrats.
He has described the Conservative/LibDem coalition as 'the happiest event of my political life'.
Councillor Margaret Rowley, the Lib Dems Parliamentary Candidate for Mid-Worcestershire last May, said "I am sure Edward will give us an interesting, and topical, perspective on both his role in the European Party and the Coalition Government.
