Mid-Worcestershire Lib Dems have “wind in our sails” following historic by-election victory

Wychavon Lib Dem Group Leader Dan Boatright-Greene says Lib Dems have “wind in our sails” following historic by-election victory in Somerton and Frome.

The Lib Dems overturned a massive Conservative majority of 19,000, with a swing of 29%. A swing smaller in size to that seen last night in Somerset would see the Liberal Democrats gain Mid-Worcestershire from the Conservative Party at the next General Election.

Group leader for the Wychavon Liberal Democrats, Dan Boatright-Greene said:

“The Liberal Democrats have the wind in our sails following last night’s stunning by-election win in Somerset. If that result was repeated here in MId-Worcestershire during a General Election, we would be on course for a historic victory.

“Having knocked on many doors during the by-election, I hear the same thing there as I do in Mid-Worcestershire.  People are telling me they're sick of having to wait weeks to see a GP, they can’t get an NHS dentist and their mortgages and rents are going through the roof.

“It’s clear that at the next election, it will be a two-horse race here between the Liberal Democrats and the Conservatives."
